The The Need for Sustainability Improvements in Residential Building Stock: A Case of Klang Valley, Malaysia

Energy consumption in residential buildings is increasing and continues to escalate. As a developing country, Malaysia faced rapid urbanization due population growth heavy migration from rural areas cities which raised the need for economic development, resulting rising demand more than ever. Guidelines conserving energy have become critical now, encouraging of sustainability concerns Malaysia. However, urgency has been given commercial, governmental industrial buildings, making push towards sector less noticeable despite large number housing typology. This paper aims investigate course Malaysia’s agenda achieving sustainable further analyse response uptake at local level. To achieve that, systematic review existing national policy masterplan produced by government, state councils decarbonization efforts building was conducted. Following thematic synthesis carried out evaluate low carbon initiatives on level, particular among ten (10) authorities committed Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF). In short, current remains limited with only four (4) highlighting improvement strategies becoming largest typology country.
